The Muppets ‘Sing’ Some Classic Songs

Who follows up serious political commentary with Muppet Show videos? Me!

I just re-discovered this absolute classic video of Beaker, Animal and the Swedish Chef ‘singing’ Danny Boy.

As if that wasn’t enough, how about Beaker taking on Kansas’ Dust in the Wind?!

Ron Howard asks you to take 5 mins to consider Obama

Ron Howard shares his view of the upcoming election by getting back into some very old TV characters and recruiting some of those shows’ stars. Nice mini-movie – take a look (4 mins).

My “Office Space” moment

I totally had an “Office Space” moment this week. It was where 2 of Peter’s (the main character) 8 bosses came by and 1 called to tell him the same thing. In my case, it was only 2 of my 4 bosses, and I broke up into hysterical laughter the second I realized the 2nd one was there to do just that. He was bewildered, and feeling badly, I tried explaining to him why I was laughing. Although he told me saw the movie, he didn’t get the reference, and still continued on with his directions and I had a hard time containing my laughter/incredulity at the situation.

In case you’re not sure what moment I’m talking about, here’s the video (3 mins).

Don’t get me wrong – my bosses (they hate that term, btw) are not the stereotypical idiots that rise to the top of large companies over time; they’re smart, capable guys, but it’s still funny/ironic how communication can completely break down in even a very small organization. It’s also funny how secretly, little companies really want to be just like big companies. Why? Companies are made up of people. People want power. Hell, I want it too.

Get Your YouTube Fix on your Mobile and “Friends” is Still Funny

Here’s a funny bit from an old Friends episode, where Joey is lamenting getting old (a.k.a. 30+). I sympathize. It sucks. Ever wonder how come life doesn’t come with a manual?

Oh yeah, if you go to http://m.youtube.com on your cell/mobile, you can pull up YouTube videos. Make sure you have a good data plan, b/c those videos ain’t small compared to text-based web pages or SMS/text messages.

The Slap Countdown Web Page!

You’ve got to love it when television shows actually make a website in the real world that they mention in an episode. Take for example, HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother), the best sitcom on TV today, which featured the Slap Countdown web page in this season’s premier episode. Well, it’s real. You can see what Barney saw. Hehe.

If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, then I won’t spoil it for you. You’ll simply have to go back and watch episode #9 in Season 2 called “Slap Bet”, but if I were you, I’d just get the DVDs and watch all the episodes. They are legen …. wait for it … dary.

Viral Videos: Diet Coke + Mentos – Take 2, 3, 4…

I know that the ‘dedicated’ web surfers among you are already scoffing at how late I’ve found these latest viral videos, but the reason I decided to post them was because I was thinking of a comment that a comedian made about how the Internet is important: “there are people dying to see videos of Mentos mints turning Coke bottles into volcanoes.”

So these guys (EepyBird.com) took the whole Mentos in Diet Coke thing and ran with it. Very far. To the point of entertainment, 3 minutes at a time. They actually have quite a few videos of them conducting ‘experiments’ with Coke and Mentos mints. And while their source materials are free, courtesy of their manufacturers, the exposure they (both) gain is tremendous (wonder what kind of $ they make…).

So onto the important stuff, the videos! They’ve got more than this, but I liked the ones where they did a whole Bellagio water fountain thing and then a cascading dominoes show.

and the dominoes one… Read the rest of this entry »
